WELCOME to Native Arts Trading Very proud of her Native American roots and Cherokee heritage, Sharon is from Texas (living many years in Arizona, Wyoming, Alaska and of course her birthplace - Texas). I spent a lot of my life in Washington State. (see About Native Arts Trading) We specialize in historically accurate custom hand made Native American style art (Plains Indian, Apache, Woodlands, Plateau, Basin, etc), traditional style beadwork, clothing, regalia of the North American Indian (from the 1700's to the early 1900's), museum replicas, weapons and artifacts, collectibles and restoration. Also, we also like to create contemporary Native American art based on tribal customs and traditions. We also represent many excellent Native American Indian artisans and are very honored and proud to showcase their work on our web site. Much of our work is sent back to collectors in the States and also to clients worldwide. This also includes many native people, museums, corporations and the film / theatre industry. Our intent is to offer custom made pieces that will produce heirlooms for generations to come. We create art on an individual basis by honoring that person with a visionary process - combined with research. This honors the traditions of the past and the present. When making a piece for a client, we utilize authentic and traditional materials combined with complete love and care. Each piece is hand sewn using glass beads, smoked or brain tanned skins, traditional designs, earth pigment paints, and fringes are all cut by hand. We use old seed beads from the 1800's and early 1900's for certain projects. Love and energy to protect and honor is incorporated into each creation. We take extreme care when replicating a piece by researching it thoroughly. Sharon also leans heavily on stories and experiences she has been told while living with Native Americans in Arizona, Wyoming, Texas and Alaska Whether it is a headdress, war shirt, leggings, pipe bag, possible bag, beaded saddle blankets, etc., we painstakingly age each piece to provide and authentic old appearance as though it was originally from the 1800's. Although we do not have a walk-in store, when in Scotland - please stop by and visit us (please call for an appointment). If you would like to discuss any of the items or would like to discuss having any item(s) custom made - we would love to hear from you. Sharon and Barry |
